Energy lawyer – NQ – Aberdeen
Brief
We are currently looking to recruit a talented newly qualified lawyer to join the Energy Transition Regulatory & Finance team (ETRF) in Aberdeen.
Our Aberdeen Team
The principal focus of the Aberdeen team is oil & gas acquisitions and projects. The team has worked on some of the largest UKCS deals, such as the acquisitions of Siccar Point Energy, Zennor Petroleum and Chevron’s North Sea assets. It is also active internationally including, earlier this year, the acquisition of bp’s upstream business in Algeria and disposals in Egypt and Tanzania. The team’s current work includes oil & gas field developments and infrastructure decommissioning and repurposing.

Work highlights
- Advised NEO Energy Upstream UK Limited – backed by Norwegian private equity firm HitecVision – on its acquisition of independent oil and gas company Zennor Petroleum Limited for a total consideration of up to $625m.
- Advising TotalEnergies E&P UK Limited on the $165m+ sale to Kistos Energy Plc of a significant package of gas fields in the UKCS, together with interests in Shetland Gas Plant and exploration acreage West of Shetland.
- Advised Pharos Energy plc on the sale of a majority interest and operatorship in various Egyptian oil and gas concessions to a wholly-owned subsidiary of Texas-based IPR Energy for $53m (plus up to $20m contingent consideration).
Our vacancy
We are now looking to appoint a newly qualified lawyer join the Energy Transition Regulatory & Finance team (ETRF) in Aberdeen. The successful applicant will:
- ideally have gained experience in a large commercial firm with an established energy practice
- have a strong academic background and excellent communication and organisational skills
- be a team player with the ability to forge strong working relationships with colleagues in an agile environment
- be well-organised and have good project management skills
