Job Description:
What do the Trading teams do?
Our Trading teams are responsible for optimizing group assets, hedging, developing trading strategies, and managing the execution of those positions across their markets. Our trading teams trade across the European Energy Markets; in Power, Gas, LPG, Oil and Environmental Products.
We have four internship opportunities across our trading desks, so you could have the opportunity to work in any one of the following desks: European or French Power; European Gas; LPG; Cross Commodity and Oil; Flow; Derivatives; Quantitative Trading.
You will be exposed to the strategy management techniques such as Stop Loss Limits, VAR and other analytical tools. The teams also assist with processes to maintain effective coordination between trading and origination, and provide commercial solutions for EDF Group and co-controlled entities consistent with maximizing value for the EDF Group.
What are my responsibilities?
You will gain exposure to the day to day activities of our trading desks by providing support to the traders as needed, predominantly by maintaining and developing models and tools.
Day to day activities may include:
  • Tool and model building
  • Model maintenance
  • Fundamental analysis
  • Forming trade ideas
  • Validation and back testing of models
  • Collecting data relevant to the specific markets
You will liaise with various stakeholders including members of the power analysis team, IT and trading desks as appropriate.
You will also have the opportunity to work on a long-term project which will aid the trading desks in pricing and trading decisions.
The nature of these Trading internships provides versatility, with no day looking the same. You will gain exposure to and valuable insight into the world of energy Trading and an understanding of the global nature of the commodities we trade.
What do I need to qualify for this internship?
  • You will be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in a STEM based subject, or another relevant subject such as Finance or Economics.
  • You will have experience in a general-purpose programming language, ideally python. Proficiency in VBA and Matlab would also be beneficial.
  • You will also be expected to have some knowledge or interest in the global energy markets
