Energy Assistant
Across EDF there is a common objective; to Help Britain achieve Net Zero. As Assistant Energy Solutions Manager you will directly impact this objective by assisting to reduce energy usage across our estate. Working closely with the Energy Solutions Manager so we can:
Do the right thing and lead by example- Be more sustainable and reduce carbon emissions
- Reduce energy and water consumption
The Opportunity
This role primarily covers the corporate estate, which comprises of circa 40 locations. Most of these properties are in the South and Southwest regions, although there are some properties in the North and Scotland. Responsible for the energy bills for the Corporate estate circa £3M.
You will be responsible for helping to maintain and monitor the energy efficiency within EDF’s Energy Management Plan under the direction of the Energy Solutions Manager. This is a dynamic role with the ability to develop into an Energy Management career.

What you’ll be doing
Accountabilities will largely relate to assisting with the Energy Management Plan, which inlcudes:
Being the first point of contact for queries from stakeholders regarding their energy usage- Carrying out basic checks on bills and other recorded data to verify accuracy and repeatability
- Assist with energy reduction reports and benefits realisation across the portfolio
- Provide input on contractual support activities related to Energy Purchasing decisions, such as market knowledge and making recommendations
- Gather information and feedback from stakeholders regarding utility usage and reduction opportunities
- To identify and explain complex variables that affect the energy consumption of a building and process and using this knowledge to contribute to project proposals to influence and adjust strategy according to your recommendations / findings
- Ensure current and relevant industry standards and regulations are complied with
Who you are
You will need to be enthusiastic about Energy Management and Sustainability and the potential for a career within this field. Although the role doesn’t require experience of the energy industry you must be keen and willing to learn. The delivery of the Energy Management Plan requires the Energy Solutions Assistant to communicate with large numbers of stakeholders, good communication is key to success. This role also requires creative problem solving and welcomes innovative ideas to reduce carbon emissions and energy usage.
You will have a good level of understanding of IT systems and software used within energy management, as well as being fully competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications & 365. You will be analytical and can present information clearly and logically.
You will be able to demonstrate transparency, authenticity and integrity, role modelling behaviours that support our ambitions. Building effective working relationships within the team and more widely across EDF Energy. Taking ownership and achieving what we set out to do. Striving for high performance and the delivery of quality results. Applying rigorous commercial and business thinking to generate better value. Being aware of external influences and taking advantage of these.
