We are a leading independent energy management & consultancy firm based in South-West London and have been in operation for almost 20 years. We’re a small but mighty team that relishes the opportunity to challenge any of our competitors in our industry.
We are currently going through a period of growth and have a great opportunity for a graduate, or someone 1 or 2 years into their career working in the industry, to join an exciting energy brokerage, where you will rapidly learn immense amounts of knowledge about the broad and deep areas of energy, renewables, carbon and price risk management.
Great relationship building and communication skills, business acumen and mathematical capability are essential.
Key responsibilities & duties of the role
- Critical thinking & problem solving: You are expected to be able to exercise sound reasoning to analyse issues, make decisions, and overcome problems.
- Innovation & creativity: You will be expected to generate new, varied, and unique ideas, and makes connections between previously unrelated ideas, and adjust or change your thinking to best meet the needs of the situation or environment.
- Relationship management: You are expected to build and maintain strong relationships with client stakeholders, to build trust, and to use this to positively influence their behaviours.
- A team player: As we're a small business that works on multiple projects all the time, it's essential that you are able to operate as a team player, build collaborative relationships, balance multiple deadlines, and provide support and assistance to both your colleagues and clients.
- Monitoring the markets: You will continuously track European energy markets, identify trends and correlations.
- Data analysis: You are expected to be able to manage, analyse and interpret large data sets, such as price and consumption data, risk metrics, budgets, etc. And you will produce accurate and well laid out analysis of the data (e.g., pivot tables, charts, etc.).
- Report writing: You will produce written reports that clearly exchange information, are well structured, have succinct messaging and are well thought through. In this way you will help us to provide insight and challenge to client stakeholders and develop ideas that will improve their decision making and effectiveness.
- Improve your own knowledge and capability: A natural consequence and a good measure for success is that your own levels of understanding, capability and expertise is continually broadened and deepened.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Develop business relationships with key market players.
- Highly analytical with a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communications, interpersonal and organisational skills required.
- Good understanding of business processes and data management. Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint & Other MS Office applications.
- Excellent numerical skills, capable of interpreting information to compile informative and accurate reports.
- Ability to interpret contractual information and communicate it effectively to customers and colleagues.
KNOWLEDGE
- Energy knowledge desirable but training will be provided, with the view of the successful candidate becoming an energy expert.
- Understanding of business processes and data management.
- Proficient in Excel, & Other MS Office applications.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION
- Degree level education and/or a background in economics or an energy-related subject is preferred.
