Job description
Duties will include customer service, meet and greet patients, booking appointments within the Endoscopy Unit, and reception areas, data input, storage and retrieval of case notes to support both elective inpatient day case treatment and outpatient episodes, collection of notes for clinics, filing and note retrieval for department.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-organised receptionist to join our busy Endoscopy Department. You will be responsible for providing an effective service within the Endoscopy team, dealing directly with patients in the Department and over the phone.

The work involves meeting and greeting patients and visitors, admitting and discharging patients in for their procedure, organising notes in and out of the department, dealing with referrals from wards and printing and adding outpatient referrals, together with incoming queries and day-to-day administrative duties.
The successful candidate must have excellent communication and organisational skills, as well as be able to work well in a team. We are looking for someone who can multitask, have strong administration abilities and can prioritise their own workload.

The endoscopy unit sits within the Acute Adult Division. It consists of 4 endoscopy rooms providing 44 sessions over 7 days, including sessions run by respiratory medicine, bowel screening lists and lists in radiology department which are staffed by endoscopy.
We are the lead hospital for the National Bowel Cancer Screening programme covering Bolton, Salford and Wigan.
The endoscopy unit provides both an inpatient and outpatient service for patients requiring endoscopic procedures, comprising:
- Diagnostic/thereapeutic Gastroscopy
- Diagnostic/thereapeutic Colonoscopy
- Diagnostic/thereapeutic Flexible Sigmoidoscopy
- ERCP
- Arrive and depart patients on patient administration system, ensure all procedure coding is completed and the correct RTT outcome status is completed
- Follow Trust DNA Policy in respect of any patient failing to attend ensuring standard letters are sent where appropriate and that the information is entered on LE2.2.
- Receive and respond to booking requests in a sensitive manner for patients who are undergoing palliative care.
- Populate DNA letters to patients/GP’s for non-attendees.
- Book interpreter / language line and link workers as necessary
- Follow Health Records Services procedures for adding patients on a Day Case waiting List.
- Ensure that casenotes moving around the Trust are tracked timely and accurately.
- Act as first stage officers in the interviewing of overseas visitors, in accordance with Department of Health guidelines.
- Respond to request for patients who require transport for their attendance at the hospital.
