The Enabling Manager (FTU) is responsible to the Training Design Service Manager for

providing the leadership, management, and drive to achieve successful delivery of all aspects of the Selborne contract.

Manage a team whose main duties include:

  • Programme management of the Contractual deliveries and lead and deliver contract performance as directed by the budget and plan.
  • Manage customer expectations to deliver optimum service level
  • Manage and develop direct reports to their full potential
  • To support Senior Management in ensuring effective and efficient delivery of courseware and training design activities
  • Provide governance of training design policy and process ensuring training design and courseware development employees maintain high standards, undertake regular CPD and keep abreast of new learning methods
  • Ensure compliance with MoD regulations and procedures including DSAT and JSP 822.

Essential:

The Enabling Manager (FTU) should have experience and a good working knowledge of the processes applied to training analysis, have experience of development and delivery environments, and have contributed to the analysis of significant training courses. The Enabling Manager (FTU) will have:

  • Strong business management and project management experience
  • Management of large-scale training projects utilising proven PM techniques
  • Proven track record of operational management within a commercial training organisation, either private industry or military environment
  • Proven track record of operational management within a commercial training organisation, either private industry or military environment.
  • Proven ability to deliver objectives in complex multi stakeholder environment.
  • Proven track record of success within a large commercial business on a KPI regime
  • Experience of management of sub-contractors
  • Experience of managing the performance, safety, welfare and security requirements of staff.
  • Excellent understanding of Defence training environment (particularly maritime)
  • Excellent understanding of the Defence System Approach to Training (DSAT)
  • Proven ability to deliver objectives in complex multi stakeholder environment
  • Proven track record of success within a large commercial business on a KPI regime
  • Ability to recognise and manage key performance and cost drivers
  • The ability to mentor, coach and develop subordinates in assurance practices
  • Demonstrates a commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Demonstrates an ability to work flexibly within a demanding operational environment
  • Demonstrates an ability to analyse and evaluate outputs with an ability to identify areas for improvement
  • Demonstrates an ability to lead a team of professionals
  • Demonstrates an ability to deliver innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Experienced in Programme Management and holds a APM or Prince 2 Qualification
  • Experienced and capable of building and maintaining effective teams.
  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of the full suite of MS Office
  • Ensure that they and their teams are best equipped to support future change
  • Ensure that they, and their staff, work in an effective collaborative manner with MoD staff, display the appropriate behaviours at all times
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels both internally and within the customer organisation
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Report writing skills
  • Good analytical skills
  • Fine attention to detail
  • Good level of IT knowledge

Detailed knowledge and practical experience of:

  • UK Ministry of Defence procedures and policies
  • Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT).
