This is a remote based role with ad hoc travel to connect with the team occasionally face to face.
Your purpose
As the ER Manager you will lead a team of HR Advice & ER business partners, who will be committed to providing a highly responsive, commercial first line ER service, building leader and manager skill sets, driving pragmatic employee relations solutions and strategies by delivering advice, identifying high-level trends, recommending innovative solutions and partnering with leaders and Functional HR Business Partners on execution.
Your role
- Developing, coaching, advising and managing a small team of employee relations specialists, functional managers and senior business leaders to resolve people challenges through best practice, supporting the development of people management skills and knowledge within the leadership population.
- Acting as a trusted partner to all business areas and programmes, ensuring that advice and guidance provided by the team is commercially focussed and manages risk for stakeholder groups.
- Developing and facilitating development activities and communications to upskill leaders and provide recommendations for proactive HR and policy revision and/or improving employee relations management.
- Articulating and optimising people data, insight and metrics to identify trends to inform future process, culture and performance.
- Owning and driving individual projects and activities focused on reducing HR and ER issues whilst developing a culture of manager self-sufficiency.
- To act as an internal escalation, point for, and subject matter expert on, complex or high-risk ER cases; overseeing investigations and appeals and communicating appropriately with relevant senior stakeholders, building effective relationships with these individuals in support of an effective ER offer
What you’ll bring
- You will have experience of operating as an employee relations expert with relevant business partnering experience an advantage.
- You will have a thorough understanding of employment law and the ability to apply this knowledge to any HR or employee relations situation with tact, influence, good judgement and/or negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage relationships and influence key senior stakeholders, making an immediate impact
- Experience of being able to navigate through complexity and ambiguity with a coaching mindset
- Experience of developing and managing people
- Thinking strategically and creatively with a down to earth and pragmatic approach to HR and employee relations solutions
