This twelve-month placement sits within the Global People function primarily working with the Global Digital Employee Engagement Team, supporting all efforts to drive adoption of Workplace by Meta globally and to build an employee experience that helps us attract and retain talent for our restaurants. Alongside this, you also have the exciting opportunity to spend approximately 10-20% of your time supporting the Employer Reputation Team.
For your primary role, you will support with the Global content strategy and development of targeted, engaging content whilst working with countries across the globe to gather best practice. This role is an ideal opportunity for a motivated tech savvy individual with a passion for social media, UI and enhancing the employee experience via creative digital campaigns.
You will have a fantastic opportunity to work with people in different countries around the world and build your personal and professional skills hence developing on-the-job experience in the business world. You will get a great insight into working for a Global brand, exploring the many dimensions of employee engagement and digital transformation, building skills and networks that should last you for life.
You will also have the opportunity to work on projects with your peers to engage the Shoreditch office, including ways to support our charity Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).
What will my accountabilities be?
Digital Employee Engagement
You will support various members of the Global Digital Employee Engagement Team with managing the day to day activities required to drive usage of the McDonald’s global engagement platform, Workplace
- Best Practice Sharing – prepare and collate best practice, content examples and insights from our markets and facilitate the monthly sharing call where all market colleagues join to collaborate. Publish information on our internal social media channel and prepare monthly information in a creative and visual way.
- New Trends - consistently monitor the content landscape for emerging trends and culturally relevant processes and pitch new, creative story ideas and storytelling tactics for Workplace.
- Global Content - work with Global SMEs, market colleagues and agencies to create global assets, TikTok style videos and campaigns that can be used across all markets for maximum impact. Maintain and develop a Global content calendar working with various global departments whilst analysing engagement data.
- Use Cases - identify, collate and iterate use case documentation to ensure markets are aware of how Workplace could benefit different functions.
- Knowledge Library – manage and refresh our hub of documentation to ensure markets and stakeholders have the latest information accessible to them.
- Know the Workplace by Meta product inside and out, from both an administrator and end user perspective, whilst being called upon for general queries and questions
- Market Success KPIs - track market, and campaign performance by gathering KPIs to understand how the tool has helped drive employee engagement and build reports and infographics, highlighting key points to share with leadership and key stakeholders
Employer Reputation
The team is made up of specialists from around the world who are responsible for Employer Branding, Recruitment Marketing and Employee Experience. You will be closely involved in projects that focus on attracting and retaining our restaurant and corporate employees, including gathering best practices, supporting the creation of playbooks and providing insight and feedback on marketing materials.
Team and Administration Support
- Programme Meeting: collate weekly status reports from wider team, draft summary programme highlights, and support the Programme Manager with all weekly meeting preparation and organisation
- Workplace Team Groups – manage the content plan and post updates and key information to our community group to keep everyone informed and engaged on latest updates. Manage leavers and joiners for the team and keeping access and groups up to date
- Meeting Support: preparation of agendas, pre-reads, presentations and diary management including travel
- Coordination of Reputation & Engagement initiatives, including collecting and providing updates on activities and case studies from markets, collecting feedback and building team surveys
- Brand Ambassador – continually and consistently maintain personal integrity, demonstrating our McDonald’s values
What Team will I be a part?

Who are my customers?
To collaborate closely with Global People colleagues based worldwide, Global and Markets leadership and Marketing Agencies.
- A Passion for the McDonald’s brand
- Experience in Adobe Creative Suite with the ability to design eye catching assets. Video editing would be a plus
- Social Media expertise - hands on experience with understanding a digital employee engagement platform, social media platform or equivalent, from a consumer and backend perspective. No requirement to have worked on the Workplace platform specifically, but a keen passion for other social media channels (TikTok, Instagram etc)
- Passionate about engaging and communicating to a target audience - A compelling storyteller, creative, with design experience. A great communicator of information in a way that resonates with a young demographic. Confidently contribute ideas and suggestions
- Enjoy team collaboration (virtual and face to face) and can build good working relationships at all levels, ability to work in a busy environment and prioritise workload
- Influence - Ability to bring teams around to your way of thinking Workplace and its value proposition while acknowledging their opinions
- Initiative – Can adapt to situations, think outside of the box to tackle problems and take on responsibility with a positive, proactive and can-do attitude. Self-motivated with a desire to learn.
- Attention to Detail – performing accurate & detailed work, with a high standard of document design and execution with the ability to analyse information quickly
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft office packages, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, One Drive, SharePoint.

Job Information / Benefits:
- You should be available to work face-to-face in the Shoreditch office each week. The number of days you will be expected to come in will be agreed with your manager.
- 52 weeks contract (typically June 2023 to June 2024)
- £20,000 (plus £3,000 London Weighting Allowance)
- 28 days' Annual Leave per year, plus bank holidays
- Dress for your day’ Casual attire when working in our offices
