Located in the heart of Piccadilly in our beautiful flagship store. This central London location, offers so much to explore including restaurants, bars, cultural sites, shopping and more, and only a short walk from the Green Park Tube Station and plenty of bus stops.

Working hand in hand with your counterpart, this role is responsible for facilitating a connected, inclusive culture where people feel empowered to disrupt and innovate to make joy.
Working on some of the most exciting future facing projects for Fortnum’s, which is a leading modern heritage brand, you will have a good understanding of employee listening and engagement strategies, and what it takes to drive a culture forward in a way that resonates with our values.
This role, in its totality, will be expected to run our employee networks, take a leading role in managing our D&I programme of activity, while working on successful and highly engaging internal communication campaigns, and producing high-quality content and internal events that build pride and bring our Employer Brand purpose and values to life on a daily basis.
You will be responsible for creating engaging, visual and informative content that really brings our story to life.
The ideal candidate will be an articulate and empathetic communicator, with excellent presentation and organisational skills.
Please note, this is a job share role of 2 days a week (15 hours).
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead our employee listening strategy (which includes our employee opinion surveys, pulse-checks and listening groups), supporting the Employee Communications and Engagement Manager and Culture & Talent Director.
- Develop and drive our internal employee networks, alongside effective communication campaigns, that build employee pride and drive engagement.
- Working with senior stakeholders and peers internally, support the development of Fortnum’s inclusion and diversity approach – coordinating and overseeing the progress we are making against our plan.
- Work with our charity partners to identify, manage and promote volunteering opportunities, fundraising and internal charitable giving.
- Working closely with our HR team, engage our people in our key mobility and community initiatives.
- Create creative, visual and informative content which will engage employees based in a wide variety of roles, including shop floor, hospitality, head office, customer service and hospitality.
- Prepare activity and summary reports for senior leaders as needed.
- Contribute to and support major annual events such as our all-staff breakfasts, all employee meetings and engagement events.
- Work closely with various departments to generate ideas and strategies that foster connection and celebrate the joy of Fortnum’s.
- Manage projects professionally to guarantee tight deadlines are met in a busy environment,
- Respond to communication-related issues in a timely manner, as part of a busy team of 4 people
We expect the successful candidate to have the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or similar level of qualification in communications, journalism, public relations or relevant field.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of internal communication practices and techniques – with an interest in latest trends and best practice.
- An avid listener, with experience in conducting research and insight.
- Keen interest and understanding of people, culture and communities.
- Curious by nature, and a keen storyteller, who is a confident and creative curator and creator of content.
- Experience of publishing tools and an eye for design.
- Strong stakeholder management and experience working with senior leaders.
- Adaptable and able to multitask and work well under pressure and display a comfort level and confidence in working with and supporting leaders.
- Excellent organisation and planning skills.
