The Role
We are looking for a skilled and capable Embedded Software Engineer who is familiar with the full software development lifecycle to join our team, predominantly working from home with occasional meets up with the broader team.
Under guidance from the software lead, you will work with other software engineers to deliver robust and user-friendly solutions to our customers. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a fresh challenge and develop your career with a growing company.
The key responsibilities of a Software Engineer include, but are not limited to:
- Being responsible for the development of primarily embedded software and ideally also highly scalable web-based software solutions
- Writing well-designed, testable code, able to integrate software components into larger fully functional systems
- Troubleshooting, debugging and upgrading existing software components
- Supporting the peer review and test of other developers’ work according to company coding standards and industry best practices
- Reviewing and evaluating system compliance to necessary industry standard specifications
- Helping to estimate work packages and to ensure work is completed on time and to an acceptable level of quality

AvInSys is fast-growing dynamic software and hardware consultancy company who provide design and development services within the Aerospace industry and requires additional Software Engineers to support their team with its current and growing future commitments.
AvInSys, in cooperation with MBS Electronic Systems (mbs-electronics.com), have brought to the airlines a range of bespoke aircraft software and data loading solutions which are now in operation with over 80 major international airlines with a growing demand.

The Person
The key skills and qualities of a Software Engineer include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field; with proven work experience as a Software Engineer, having particular focus on the design and development of embedded software systems
- Strong communication skills in written and spoken English
- Knowledge of the following software development languages and frameworks: C/C++, Qt, Qt Markup Language (QML), Extensible Markup Language (XML), Perl
- Excellent knowledge of the Linux operating system and its utilities, with experience in Linux kernel customisation and the buildroot system
- Experience in Bitbucket, Jenkins, JIRA and Confluence software development toolsets
- Sound knowledge of ethernet; Wi-Fi; GPRS/3G/4G; USB; USB On The Go; EXT3, EXT4, FAT16, FAT32 and NTFS filesystems; IP, HTTP, HTTPS and SOAP communication protocols; Private Key Encryption and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI); and compressed file formats
Knowledge of PHP, JavaScript, AJAX, CSS, HTML; a basic knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) and SQL; and/or a working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) is not essential but highly desirable.

Salary: £35,000.00-£65,000.00 per year
