Our new Email Marketing Officer will help the Liberal Democrats deliver a high-quality email marketing program, delivering on membership experience, spreading our message, and growing membership and supporter numbers.
You will be a talented copywriter and communicator, capable of communicating big ideas simply and emotively, with the ability to adapt your writing for different audiences, formats and writing as different speakers.
You’ll be able to report on campaign effectiveness and analyse data in order to implement learnings and improvements to offer the best service to our members,
supporters and colleagues.
You’ll work closely with the Media, Digital, Membership, Campaigns & Parliamentary teams to support the Senior Email Marketing Manager in identifying stories which can
be turned into engaging content for members and fundraising opportunities.
You don’t have to be an expert email marketer, we can teach you the technical skills, but you do need to have a passion for creating engaging content that motivates and inspire people to take action. Ideally, you’ll have experience working in a similar field or role and the ability to learn new systems and technology quickly.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and executing high-quality email marketing and fundraising campaigns (including the use of segmentation, A/B testing and dynamic content).
- Writing persuasive, high-quality copy from a range of voices, to different audiences and across various email formats.
- Using coding to create engaging emails, with a keen eye for detail and design.
- Liaising with colleagues across the organisation to commission, write and approve emails, and supporting the Senior Email Marketing Manager to identify engaging stories.
- Increasing engagement, fundraising income, and membership / supporter recruitment through email campaigns.
- Reporting on campaign performance and analysing key metrics to identifyleanings and implement improvements.
- Being a point of contact for colleagues using our email systems to problem solve and champion best practice.
- During an Election, assist the Senior Email Marketing Manager to coordinate and support temporary or voluntary staff where necessary.
Person Specification
Essential Skills and Experience
1. Experience of writing marketing or fundraising copy. Ideally with some experience writing for email.
2. Strong copywriting, editing and proofing skills.
3. Good communication and time management skills.
4. Excellent attention to detail.
5. Experience executing projects with the ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines and stakeholders.
6. Ability to work in a rapid-paced environment, with a flexible and can-do attitude.
7. A proactive self-starter with the drive for continuous improvement and development.
8. Sympathy with aims and objectives of the Liberal Democrats.
Technical skills
A candidate will ideally have experience with 1 or more of the following. Not having these skills should not be a barrier to applying, as they can be taught.
1. HTML and CSS coding
2. Experience working with a CRM
3. Experience working with an email tool (Litmus / Iterable / MailChimp / Mailjet etc)
Desirable Skills and Experience
1. Knowledge or experience working with Salesforce (or similar CRM platform).
2. Knowledge or experience working with Iterable (or similar Email Marketing / Marketing Automation tools).
3. Digital or email marketing experience.
4. Fundraising or individual giving experience.
5. A keen interest, in and knowledge of, UK Politics - with an understanding of the Liberal Democrats’ position, aims and values.
6. Marketing qualification.
