ESI is now hiring K-6 Teachers in Thornton, CO.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Grammar School Teachers are responsible for the education and character development of their students. As examples to their students, teachers are expected to demonstrate high moral character and embrace the virtues of a free society. Teachers must have a strong background in the subject matter taught, will foster professional friendships with faculty and staff, seek collaborative relationships with parents, and mentor students in the pursuit of their own flourishing. Teachers are accountable to the Headmaster with significant collaboration and support from the Dean of Academics and, if applicable, Department Heads and Mentor Teachers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree or higher preferred, and demonstrated mastery of the relevant academic discipline
- Must have taught in a classical school settings for at least 2 years
- For co-curricular teachers, must have a bachelor's degree in the subject taught; or at a minimum 36 hours of higher education credit in the subject area of instruction. (In some cases, a passing grade in a content exam will suffice.)
- Specific requirements for general education grammar school teachers without an active Colorado teaching license teaching K-3:Receive passing grade on 4-part elementary education content exam (math, reading, social studies, and science) within six months of beginning employment
- K-3 teachers must meet the requirements of the Colorado READ ACT
- This can be done via the Colorado Department of Education's free 45-hour training course
- Specific requirements for general education grammar school teachers without an active Colorado teaching license teaching grades 4-6:Receive passing grade on 3-part elementary education content exam (math, social studies, and science) within six months of beginning employment
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaching in subject matter areas
- Establishing a Classroom Environment
- Coordinating curriculum related items
- Instill student culture and discipline
- Providing student/parent communication
