Electronics Engineer - Audio Technology
Based: High Wycombe / Hybrid
Term: Permanent, Full time
Salary: Negotiable + Excellent benefits
The Role:
We are looking for an Electronics engineer to join our team to create audio interface products for applications including live music performance, studio recording and education.
Duties will include:
On a day-to-day basis you’ll be responsible for delivering electronics hardware, covering the full life cycle from concept to production. This will include design of schematics, PCBs, debugging prototype hardware and ensuring your new designs are suitable for mass production.
Other aspect of your role will include the evaluation of new technologies, innovation, maintenance and optimising existing products.
Your workflow will be primarily waterfall, so the ability to plan your activities, estimate tasks and deliver against deadlines is essential.
The role gives an opportunity to directly influence the products we build, and a high degree of technical ownership which we strongly encourage.
We are a committed team who love what we do. You will be given freedom to work autonomously, but we pull together and there is always support available.
Skills and experience required:
- A passion for designing products for musicians and producers, and for bringing those products to market.
- Demonstrable electronic design skills. (Analogue audio, microprocessor interfacing, mixed-signal, SMPS etc.)
- Confidence taking ownership throughout the development process and seeing products through to production.
- Ability to meet quality requirements at minimum cost, and to find creative approaches to cost reduction.
- Ability to analyse and present trade-offs between cost, quality, and time.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, including lab work (test equipment, SMT soldering etc.)
- Good team working and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to adopt new working practices and continuously improve them.
Experience of any of the following would be an advantage:
- A degree or HND in Electronics Engineering (or other relevant technical discipline).
- Consumer Electronics industry experience.
- Experience of design for manufacture, assembly, and production test.
- Experience of analogue audio design and conversion, high-speed digital interfaces.
- Experience in design for regulatory approvals (EMC, RED, LVD etc.)
- Familiarity with embedded software.
- An active interest in making music and music technology.
