Who we are
Zedsen is a MedTech start-up, developing an ultrathin, non-invasive and low-cost sensor to be used in the field of oncology, to categorise breast lesions with the goal of challenging current cancer diagnostic paradigms (mammography, ultrasound and MRI).
We are seeking to address the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s “Triple Aim'' for optimising healthcare systems, by enhancing the quality of care, improving the health of the overall patient population, and decreasing the cost of healthcare per capita.
This is a great time to join Zedsen, as we are in our most exciting phase yet, putting the finishing touches on our permittivity measuring device to prepare it for our first-in-human trials later in the year. We believe that through our technology and our talented team, we can improve patient outcomes, reduce the financial inequalities of the current healthcare system and democratise healthcare globally.
The role
We are looking for an Electronics Engineer to work within our hardware design team to assist with the creation of prototype hardware based upon the Zedsen proprietary technology. You will be an important part of the team tasked with designing the medical device focused on the non-invasive detection of breast cancer.
This role will require you to apply your design expertise to identify solutions to technical challenges while achieving the overall business objectives of cost and performance. As part of the design team, you will be responsible for the full design lifecycle including testing and first system bring-up of your designs.
In addition to this, you will also work with our simulation and algorithm teams to develop novel solutions for the measurement of the key parameters needed to assist them in implementing Zedsen’s technology within the clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Working with the hardware team to design prototype systems and medical devices.
- Component selection, creating schematics and PCB layouts of subassembly designs.
- Overseeing external subcontractors associated with the designs.
- The design of high-speed digital aspects of our systems and products including high-speed interfacing to ADCs, memories, external SERDES and Gigabit Ethernet PHYs.
- Creating documentation and designs in compliance with our ISO 13485 Quality Management System.
- Responsible for first systems bring-up and testing of the hardware for both production and prototype systems.
- Developing phantoms and prototype systems to assist our simulation and clinical science teams.
- Delivering project objectives on time and within budget.
Benefits
- Chance to be part of an enterprise developing ground-breaking and innovative new technologies.
- Regular 1-2-1s for career planning and development

- Demonstrable experience of overseeing external layout contractors.
- Demonstrable experience creating documentation within a Quality Management System.
- Ability to create designs within a schematic design tool.
- Ability to read and understand component datasheets to select suitable devices within the design.
- Ability to solder and rework PCBs with 0402 surface mount components.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
