The opportunity
Project: New Prisons Programme
Mace has an existing in-house team of mechanical and electrical engineers who design and implement new build and refurbishment projects which can range widely in scale. They must be capable of undertaking condition surveys, concept planning, design development and production of drawn information for tendering through to construction stage including carrying out the inspections and ratifications of the final work.
They will also undertake existing property inspections, maintenance and manage upgrade and repairs contracts to existing properties.
The role will be mainly office-based. It will be advantageous to the candidates if they have the capacity to work from home safely and in compliance with the DSE regulations.
The role can be based from our Offices in either Manchester, Leeds or Birmingham. With occasional travel to project locations, mainly in the midlands and north of the UK and regular visits to construction sites.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting in the design and delivery of building and engineering projects or groups of projects or programmes of work to achieve the highest quality within given timescales, budgets and statutory requirements.
Providing of electrical engineering design services.
Undertaking design of electrical engineering elements for new build or repair/refurbishment projects and specify systems and performance specifications and criteria.
Being expert, but not limited, HV/LV distribution, lighting and emergency lighting, power distribution, data installations, fire engineering, safety and security systems including alarms, access control and CCTV. Undertaking the modelling and simulation options appraisals and feasibility studies and contribute whole life costing.
Directing and managing engineers involved in projects or groups of projects or programmes of works.
Taking the lead role in projects and programmes and production of information.
Carrying out quality assurance checks on designs carried out by others.
Running, attending and participating in client meetings and design workshops.
About you
You must be experienced and qualified electrical engineers with specialist background, knowledge and experience in the education, secured environments, office refurbishments and sustainability and energy management sectors. You must have security clearance.
You have previous experience in project/programme works. You are digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and able to take on role of CDM-C. You will have a construction or project management background and be hungry to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace have to offer.
