Job description
Electrical Design Manager
You will excel as a senior technical specialist, involved in major projects or compliance programmes covering power systems (ac and dc) across the BT estate. You will play a key role in the expansion of BT’s 21C Core network over the next 3-5 years. You will be the key decision maker on all decisions relating to electrical infrastructure.
- You will lead a team of electrical or mechanial specialsts in a critical Data centre environment. You will work with your team develop their enginerring and leadership capability.
- Provide specialist M&E knowledge in the preparation, management and maintenance of M&E systems related policies, engineering standards and guides.
- You will be leading projects as a Technical Design Lead.
- You will be responsible for Supplier Management.
- You will be leading on BT Strategies and making bold decisions.
- Prepare Statements of Requirements (SoR) for project specific systems.
- Provide technical governance and evaluation of project specific tender returns.
- Represent BT, as the nominated technical specialist, during Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT).
- Keep up to date with emerging technologies and trends within the telecommunications industry. Compare current policies, standards and guides with other industries (e.g. water sector, energy sector, etc.).
- Perform supplier technical audits of their standards, facilities, training and product quality for compliance with BT policies, standards and guides.
- Perform the role of technical coordinator and interface between stakeholders (BT), suppliers and interested parties.
- Deliver activities and programmes realting to compliance and assurance of BT’s mechanical and/or electrical infrastructure.
- Implement and own electrical systems e2e including specification, tender, training and in-life excellence.
- Strong experience in Electrical and/or Mechanical systems.
- Demonstrable practical experience of: on-site power generation, UPS Systems, AC Switch-gear, HV Power, Fuel tanks.
- M&E infrastructure project delivery experience.
