The Role
In York, we look after a diverse population of approximately 210,000. Maintaining the Electoral Register and organising elections and referenda is a vital part of ensuring democracy works effectively for our citizens.
In this role you will assist the Electoral Services Manager in delivering an efficient electoral service which complies with electoral legislation and meets the performance standards set by the Electoral Commission.
You will assist in the compilation, maintenance and publication of the Register of Electors, undertake other administrative duties including the annual audit (canvass) and help with all aspects of organising elections and referenda.

About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with an eye for detail who demonstrates effective administration, organisational, ICT, and communication skills. Speed and accuracy in inputting data is important. You must have the capability to produce work of a high standard while under pressure to meet statutory deadlines with ability to plan and prioritise your own workload, using your initiative to work independently or as part of a team.
You may be required to work some weekends and evenings during the Canvass period and particularly in the run up to an election.
There is occasional lifting and moving of boxes and equipment.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
