Job description

The Department of Materials is seeking an Education Support Officer to work largely in the pivotal and exciting area of graduate admissions, with some support for Undergraduate Admissions, and to our final year undergraduates. Working with the Director of Graduate Studies, you will play a key role in all aspects of the administrative support of Materials graduate student admissions, recruitment and widening participation. This is a full-time permanent position, joining a team that provides the administrative support for all the students in the Department.
With proven ability to manage and prioritise a diverse and busy workload in an efficient and reliable manner, the Education Support Officer will be able to work both independently and collaboratively to deliver high levels of academic administration. You will have the capacity to understand and apply University and departmental policies and procedures accurately and effectively. As a customer-facing role, you will understand the importance of high standards of customer service as you will act as the first point of contact for many potential students.
You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, whilst producing accurate work to tight and sometimes competing deadlines. You will work effectively as part of a small team, having the ability to work independently yet understand when to refer matters to others. Working with members of Faculty, prospective students, colleges and central departments of the University, you will have good interpersonal skills of tact and diplomacy, with an ability to work with and communicate effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
All applications must be made online using the Oxford University E-Recruitment system, no later than 12 noon on 25 September 2023. You will be required to upload a CV and a Supporting Statement as part of your application. Please do not attach any manuscripts, papers, transcripts, mark sheets or certificates as these will not be considered as part of your application.
Interviews are scheduled to take place at the Department of Materials shortly after the closing date and you must be available during this time, either by Teams or in person. Please note in normal circumstances only interview travel expenses within the UK will be reimbursed.
