Job Description & Requirements for IFEAT Education Officer

The International Federation of Essential Oils and Aroma Trades (IFEAT) represents the interests of companies involved in the production, processing, trading and manufacturing of the many thousands of ingredients used in flavours, fragrances and aromatherapy.

IFEAT’s current membership is 665 companies from 70 countries and its principal aim is to advance and protect the Members’ interests including international collaboration between Members and other national and international organisations, funding research and education programmes, the encouragement of good practices, the dissemination of information and the provision of forums for discussion.

Having completed the acquisition of the International Centre for Aroma Trades
Studies (ICATS), IFEAT is seeking a full-time employee to join the IFEAT team in the role of Education Officer to create the IFEAT Learning Centre.

Working from your home office, during the office hours of 9am to 5.30pm GMT
Monday to Friday, you will work alongside the existing ICATS and IFEAT teams. You will report in the first instance to the Chief Administrative Officer and the Education
Committee Chair & Vice Chair and overall to the IFEAT Executive Committee Chair.

Overall Accountability
In conjunction with the IFEAT Education Committee you are expected to develop, implement and deliver the educational vision of IFEAT through exciting, industry relevant courses.

Job Responsibilities

Strategy
● Create a five year business plan aligned to IFEAT objectives, working closely with the Education Committee at IFEAT.
● Develop a long term strategy to drive engagement and partnerships with

IFEAT Member companies.
● Build complementary collaborations with academic institutions.
● Raise the profile of IFEAT as an educational provider within the industry and more widely.

Operations
● Day-to-day management of ICATS covering operational, financial and HR.
● Explore and integrate suitable new digital methods for course delivery.

● Take a proactive approach to risk management, ensuring risks and issues are identified, escalated to IFEAT and addressed as appropriate.

● Design and implement education related policies and procedures that will create efficiencies.

● Work closely with the Study Tour and Scientific Committees to incorporate archived material into the course curriculums.

● Identify and collaborate with suitable industry experts to deliver (lead, teach, mentor) relevant courses/programmes to meet the membership needs.

● Oversee and direct the ICATS staff and sub contractors.
● Liaise with the IFEAT Finance Committee Chair and Finance Coordinator so that monthly reports can be delivered to the Education Chair.

Institution Tie Ups:
● Develop and maintain relationships with universities, research institutes and professional bodies for the purpose of collaboration.
● Prepare and finalise any agreements between IFEAT and suitable universities/institutes that align with the educational vision.

Programme Design:
● Stay informed with regard to relevant skills, knowledge and qualifications required by the industry.
● Lead the development of appropriate syllabuses (including selecting those for examination purposes), resources, schemes of work, marking policies, assessment and teaching and learning strategies to meet with the course requirements.

● Utilise a range of evaluation strategies for the continuous improvement of the education programmes.

● Manage consultant teaching and examination resources.

Reporting:
● Collate data and prepare reports on programme and project activities to provide oversight.
● Circulate progress reports to the membership through various IFEAT media channels.
● Review the outcomes of assessments or examinations with members of the curriculum team for further improvements to the curriculum.
● In-person attendance at the annual Conference and Executive Committee Meetings (one in London and two overseas) plus Study Tours (if relevant).
● Attendance at ad-hoc meetings (both online and in-person).
● Assistance on ad-hoc projects and any other duties as assigned.
● Support to other members of the IFEAT Team as and when required.

Job Requirements
● At least 10 years experience years’ experience in Education Management or a similar role is preferred.
● Minimum of a BSc degree and any additional certification in Education would be preferred.
● Experience in organisation development, leadership development, talent management and learning and development - both designing the framework and implementing the same.

● Excellent oral and written communication skills so as to communicate credibly and effectively.

● Excellent organisational skills and experience in office administration.
● Experience in interacting with Associations and Committees is a plus.
● Background or knowledge of the aroma trades industry would be beneficial.
● Ready and able to substitute any other member of staff during absence, holiday or illness should this be required.

Personal Requirements
● Ability to work from home office.
● Resident in the UK preferred.
● Sociable person with the ability to work in a team and also independently.
● Ability to travel internationally (for bi-annual meetings and the Annual Conference).
● IT literate including Excel, Word, Adobe, Google Apps, Xero, MailChimp, website content management etc..
● Flexible in additional working hours (including possible evening conference calls).
● Native/Fluent English language with perfect writing skills - other languages an advantage.

Timing of Hire
● Immediate.
