Education Inclusion Co-ordinator Keynsham, England

Bath & North East Somerset Council
Full Time Keynsham, England 42503 - 45495 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Hours: 37 per week

Contract Type: Permanent

Service Area: Children's Services & Education

Department: Virtual School

Exclusion from school is recognised as a key risk factor for children’s vulnerability to exploitation and reduced academic outcomes. Imminent risk of permanent exclusion can be a ‘teachable moment’ when a child feels ready to accept an offer of support. We are looking for a creative, innovative individual to work alongside schools and a range of professionals to develop this offer of support and effectively promote inclusion.

The post-holder will:

  • Work within the education directorate to provide advice and guidance to promote inclusion.

Help lead local initiatives with schools and other partners to:

  • improve inclusive approaches,
  • develop effective local practice in identifying and meeting the needs of those at risk of exclusion at an early stage
  • develop a graduated approach to prevent permanent exclusion in schools.

Whilst there is flexibility around working arrangements, there is an expectation to be both in schools and working alongside colleagues in B&NES offices on a regular basis.

Your main place of work will be the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible via car or public transport, with a train station 5 minutes’ walk away.

Why B&NES Council?

We offer a wide range of benefits, to ensure that you are paid fairly for your work, have the flexibility to enjoy a great work/life balance, and have the support you need. These include:

  • A competitive salary package
  • A range of flexible working and hybrid working options, including flexi-time, four regional offices and home-working, dependent on service requirements
  • A generous holiday allowance and special leave provisions
  • The Local Government Pension Scheme
  • A comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme – whatever life throws at you; we are committed to supporting you and your well-being at work and home
  • Professional and personal development including in-house training and accredited qualifications including Aspiring Manager and Leadership Development
  • Discount scheme including the VECTIS card that offers numerous local discounts including cycle to work and free entry to numerous local attractions with B&NES
