About Us

Nottingham Trent University is the second most sustainable university in the world (UI Green Metric 2022) and we have made significant progress in the area of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in recent years. The NTU Green Academy have been a driving force behind this success. We are a small, dynamic and sector-leading team dedicated to integrating sustainability into the student academic experience in line with the NTU strategic aim of ‘Embracing Sustainability’. Our team’s Sustainability in Practice certificate and several other projects have been shortlisted for EAUC Green Gown Awards.

You'll play a critical role in helping us achieve those ambitions by inspiring and supporting NTU colleagues to integrate sustainability throughout all of our courses.

About the Role

You will be highly motivated, dependable and adaptable with a can-do attitude. You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills with an attention to detail. You'll be capable of multi-tasking on several projects simultaneously and able to communicate and work with diverse groups of stakeholders including students, staff, community members and business professionals.

You'll be responsible for creating and delivering ESD workshops, discussions, presentations and other events. You should be able to prioritise and organise your work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, sometimes fast-paced environment.

A good knowledge of sustainability issues and sustainability education is essential.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining online and in-person teaching and training materials including staff development resources and content for our ‘Sustainability in Practice’ certificate
  • Providing consultancy and guidance to academic colleagues to support integration of ESD into course design including through taught curriculum, assessments and student competencies
  • Preparing and leading workshops and other events such as staff away days and student challenges
  • Collaborating with our internal and external partners
  • Proactively networking with stakeholders to share practice and raise our profile
  • Analysing and reporting on the impacts of the team’s work
  • Coordinating evidence submissions for example external accreditations, awards and league tables
  • Ensuring currency of your ESD knowledge and adding to the specialist knowledge of the team to ensure that NTU remains a sector leader in ESD
