Faculty of Health and Life Sciences


We are looking to appoint a part time (one day/7.3 hours per week, 0.2FTE) Lecturer in Healthcare Education. This role is available immediately on a permanent basis. We would be open to the possibility of an NHS secondment in the first instance.


The role


This role sits within the Postgraduate team in the Department of Health and Care Professions in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences


You will join a thriving academic community at an important stage of the development of our portfolio and contribute to all aspects of the student journey, including recruitment, module leadership, session design and delivery, assessment, quality assurance and student support.


About you


You will most likely be a non-medical healthcare professional and you will contribute to teaching on our MSc Clinical Pharmacy, MSc Advanced Clinical Practice and/or our Independent and Supplementary Prescribing course


For a Lecturer post you will:

  • Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by a PhD (Optional or nearing completion) or equivalent experience, of the core knowledge relating to this academic area in order to teach and support learning on academic area modules;
  • Use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students;
  • Participate in and develop external networks, for example, to contribute to student recruitment, secure student placements, facilitate outreach work, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, or build relationships for future activities;
  • Will have evidence of excellent teaching identified by peer review and have made an impact at discipline programme level beyond their own teaching;
  • Be expected to work towards Fellow of the HEA status and to attend formal CPD relating to this.
