Job description

The City of Surprise Resource Center is looking for its next dynamic team member to implement our new early childhood programming and services through a First Things First grant. If you are passionate about working with families with children 0-5 years of age to support the development, well-being, health and education of all Arizona’s children, the Surprise Resource Center is looking for you!

This position will require working one evening shift and one weekend day a month and will require driving to other community locations to provide programming and services throughout our grant region (Surprise, El Mirage, Waddell, and Wittmann).

This is a grant funded position.

SUMMARY
Incumbent is responsible for coordinating and implementing the early childhood education and support service provisions under First things First grant in the Surprise Resource Center and the surrounding community. Incumbent coordinates grant service provisions, coordinates and implements early childhood programming and services, directly intakes information from applicants requesting services, assists with identifying and recruiting needed community services, assists residents in finding and applying for services. Incumbent provides support to other related neighborhood projects and activities, monitors grant funds and reviews performance of programs offered at the Resource Center. Incumbent assists supervisor with annual budget requests to ensure adequate funding for the Resource Center and works to identify grants, contracts, and contributions for Community Resource Center operations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in early childhood development, education, family studies, social work or a related field and three (3) years of professional experience working with families with children birth to age 5. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.

First Things First programming experience and grant management experience preferred.

Bilingual preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have at time of hire and be able to maintain a valid Arizona Driver License.

Must provide proof of having a Fingerprint Clearance Card (FCC) from the Arizona Department of Public Safety within 7 days of hire -OR- provide proof of having applied for the Fingerprint Clearance Card (FCC) within 7 days of hire. (The cost of obtaining an FCC will be provided by the Human Services & Community Vitality department.)

SELECTION PROCESS
Applicants whose education, training and experience meets the needs of the position may be invited to participate in a selection process to include a panel interview.
