The post of Education Advisory Teacher is an exciting opportunity to support foster carers to advocate for the rights of children in care to ensure they receive their educational entitlement.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Working as part of the wider education service that spans England, Scotland and Wales to ensure all children and young people looked after by TACT carers receive appropriate education for their needs in order for them to fulfil their academic and personal potential.
- Play an active role across all areas of England, working remotely in supporting with education casework and working with schools in ensure that our young people are fully included in all aspects of school life.
- Work as part of the Education Service to implement TACT’s education policies and procedures, promote educational attainment, attendance and ensure that all children looked after by TACT receive appropriate educational services.
- Provide advice to social care colleagues and TACT foster carers, as well as working to advocate strongly for the educational rights of children in our care.
Main role requirements:
- A teaching qualification, be educated to Degree level or equivalent
- Have experience of working with children in care and teaching in a range of schools with awareness of a trauma informed approach to education
- Experience participating in PEP meetings, and an understanding of the processes relating to SEN and knowledge of the issues faced by care experienced children and young people of statutory school age across England.
- Experience of working with a range of local authority services, including SEN would be advantageous.
- Ability to prioritise, plan and self-organise efficiently.
- Capable of using electronic records systems and IT effectively, including participating in virtual meetings and webinars.
