Titan Publishing Group, the UK’s leading publisher of licensed film and TV entertainment titles, are currently recruiting for an Editorial Assistant –Titan Books.
We’re looking for a highly organised, enthusiastic individual to join our busy Books division. This position offers the right candidate a unique opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the editorial process. As well as providing general administrative support to the editorial team.
Core function
Editorial assistants perform a range of administrative and editorial tasks necessary to get books published. They act as the liaison for the many people involved in a publication, supporting editors with book production, editorial work and author communications.
Core administrative tasks include coding invoices, maintaining department filing records, receiving assets and text from authors and licensors, maintaining the Books database, mailing advances/proofs and library management and assisting with project handover to production staff.
Typical work activities include:
- supporting editorial department in day-to-day activities including the administration of the books’ database, processing contracts and invoices, and sending out author and licensor copies of books.
- overseeing reprints, buy-in and second format publications through to press in a timely manner
- supporting acquiring editors with their front list titles
- liaising with other in-house teams; design, production and finance staff to maintain and monitor schedules and admin for stages in the publishing process.
- running print costings, ensuring margins are accurate, and department files are complete.
- Proofreading and inputting corrections into complex layouts.
- registering US copyrights
- managing the reader feedback inbox
- obtaining permissions to use materials from other publications or productions.
- taking accurate minutes of meetings and distributing them in a timely manner.
- filing, scanning, mailing, and other routine administrative tasks.
- collating market research to support acquisitions, e.g. Bookscan sales, author profiles and competitor publishing plans
Experience dependent activities include:
- using your own specialist knowledge to contribute ideas;
- sourcing freelancers or other authors to produce new materials;
- assisting with the art direction and design of publications;
Relationships
- Maintain effective communication at all times, ensuring that all information is shared with relevant staff, clients and customers.
- Develop and maintain professional working relationships with all personnel.
- Provide regular feedback to your line manager ensuring they are advised of all developments and problems in your areas of responsibility.
- Act at all times in the best interest of the business to further good relations.

Salary: £24,000.00 per year
