Reporting to the Manager, Pension Communications, the Editorial Lead, Pension Communications, oversees production and delivery of internal and external communications material in support of OMERS and the broader Pension Services team’s strategic priorities.
This position supports company and divisional objectives through developing and supporting the coordination and execution of communications plans, providing leadership and representing the Pension Communications team on various cross-divisional projects that primarily support member-facing departments, and recommending and creating compelling and engaging content for various channels.
Working with internal team members and other business partners, the Editorial Lead, Pension Communications develops a range of high-quality communications products including newsletters, articles and web content, presentations and FAQs; supports special projects and other related communications and public relations activities; and recommends new strategies and tactics based on measurement and feedback.

Position Scope:
Reporting to the Manager, Pension Communications, the Editorial Lead, Pension Communications, oversees production and delivery of internal and external communications material in support of OMERS and the broader Pension Services team’s strategic priorities.
This position supports company and divisional objectives through developing and supporting the coordination and execution of communications plans, providing leadership and representing the Pension Communications team on various cross-divisional projects that primarily support member-facing departments, and recommending and creating compelling and engaging content for various channels.
Working with internal team members and other business partners, the Editorial Lead, Pension Communications develops a range of high-quality communications products including newsletters, articles and web content, presentations and FAQs; supports special projects and other related communications and public relations activities; and recommends new strategies and tactics based on measurement and feedback.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement integrated communications plans, and provide day-to-day counsel and support for various groups across Pension Services
- Draft and edit various communications products for key audiences, particularly members, employers and stakeholders
- Develop presentations, speaking notes and other communications materials for senior leadership • Assist in developing and coordinating communications activities and materials related to internal/external meetings, conferences and events
- Support reputation management and public relations activities
- Ensure consistent messaging across all platforms
- Compile and present analytics on communications programs and make recommendations for continuous improvement and tracking against annual objectives
- Mentor and coach other Pension Communications staff as necessary.
- University or college degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or a related field
- 8+ years related experience
- Superior written and verbal communications skills with experience in developing a range of communications materials under tight deadlines
- A writing style that balances narrative storytelling with business communications
- Extensive content marketing strategy development and copywriting experience, including email marketing
- Experience writing executive communications material, including LinkedIn articles, internal memos, and external presentations and speeches
- Sound judgment with ability to confidently provide feedback and recommendations to leadership and cross-divisional teams
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills with ability to work independently as required
- Experience in developing presentations and speaking notes for executives
- Excellent editorial, organizational and communications planning skills
- Proficient in MS Office including MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Experience in compiling and presenting communications research and analytics
- Ability to excel within a team environment through collaboration and cooperation
- Strong relationship-building skills to build trust and to achieve results with diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and function effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Experience in pension communications or financial sector communications would be an asset
