Job description
We are seeking a creative and organised multitasker to join our busy and friendly Editorial Team. The role will be varied and fun, providing editorial support across an exciting list of books, craft, games and toy, whilst developing key editorial skills along the way. As well as assisting the team, you will also work closely with the Design team to project manage a select number of customer-led titles. Meticulous attention to detail, proofreading and strong writing skills are a must.
Alongside editorial tasks, a vital part of the role is managing product enquiries from customers and clients. This will require open and kind communication with customers through various channels, exceptional organisational skills and the ability to resolve each query swiftly.
Main Responsibilities
- Support a team of editors with proofreading, file checking and research projects
- Work with the editorial team to test out activities and puzzles in our activity book ranges
- Work closely with the Design team to project manage a select list of book and craft titles
- Set up and do weekly updates for all sales selling sheets
- Arrange contractual author and licensor copies to be posted out
- To be the main point of call for customers with product enquiries
- Responsible for logging and replying to every call, email and website query by tracking messages, sending quick responses and solving each query in a positive and proactive way
- Represent the company when communicating with customers and clients and working hard to solve each query and issue
- Locate and order components to post out to customers and clients
- Manage stock by organising and labelling components and ordering in new components as and when required
- Create and maintain monthly Trello boards with new book and product covers
- Test craft and models to ensure our make-and-dos work correctly
- Liaise with internal departments, including Design, Production, Sales and Procurement
- Establish and maintain an awareness of the children’s book market, media, marketing and product, such as toys and games. Also engage with relevant sales and marketing reports
Skills & Experience
- An organised and creative self-starter with a passion for children’s books, toy and craft products
- Experience in editorial is preferred but not essential
- A meticulous eye for detail
- Strong writing skills
- Exceptional organisational skills and proven experience in managing multiple projects at once
- Excellent communication in all areas of customer service, including phone conversations, written communication and digital responses
- Honesty and integrity
- Positive can-do attitude within a fast-changing environment
- A team player
