About the Pet Cancer Foundation
The Pet Cancer Foundation’s vision is to increase life expectancy and improve the quality of life of pets diagnosed with cancer. Estimates suggest that 12M dogs and cats are developing cancer every year, roughly 6x the number of humans getting cancer yearly within North America.
We need to do more for our furry friends, and we're building a large team of distributed, animal-loving passionate volunteers to help them and their families. Our team is searching for experienced scientific editors to oversee the development of informational resources for our pet family community. That's where and how you can help us.
The Position:

This role requires a deep understanding of complex scientific information and the ability to translate it into layman's terms. As the Senior Scientific Editor, you will lead and work closely with an editing team ensuring the quality and accuracy of our materials. Your role will be instrumental in educating pet owners about various health topics, thereby improving pet care outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Training and Development: As the team lead, you will be responsible for the training and professional development of your team. This includes providing ongoing feedback, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring that your team is updated on the latest editing best practices.
- Scientific Accuracy: You will ensure that all content is scientifically accurate and utilizes only the highest quality veterinary research available. This includes ensuring any source literature is up to date with the latest research and developments in the field.
- Collaboration: You will collaborate closely with other departments, including our Website’s Editor-in-Chief to align style guides, voice, and tone consistently while ensuring the content meets the organization's goals and brand standards.
- Quality Assurance: You will implement and oversee quality assurance processes, ensuring that all content meets the organization's high standards for scientific accuracy, clarity, and user-friendliness.
- Compliance and Ethical Standards: You will ensure that all content complies with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards, including respecting copyright laws, citing sources correctly, and avoiding conflicts of interest.
- User Experience: Ensure our final product is understandable for the pet owner to a high school reading level.
