1 x Qualified Early years teacher to work Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm, term time only.
To work as a Qualified Early Years Teacher as part of the nursery team under the direction of the Manager, Deputy and Room Leader. The position offers the opportunity to lead a small school risers team to support a key group of school riser children within a nursery setting, helping to develop and embed an innovative Early Years curriculum which weaves the HYGGE approach throughout. The passionate, motivated and enthusiastic individual will be responsible in ensuring continuous provision and a planned curriculum provides challenge, includes interests and the diverse background of all our school riser children so they are well prepared for school. The qualified teacher will be responsible for planning and leading a well designed school risers programme for afternoon sessions which will include phonics and a focus on school readiness.
Main duties
- To work with leadership to plan and implement the setting’s curriculum.
- To develop a school risers programme which encapsulates the settings ethos and values to prepare for children for school.
- Has experience in teaching early years and an in depth knowledge of child development, including the EYFS 2021 and birth to 5 matters document.
· To make formal and informal observations to assess children’s development and plan continuous provision accordingly with regard to children’s interests, characteristics of learning and family background.
· To work to current legal adult to child ratios.
- Responsible for children’s activities, safety & well-being during the session.
- To lead and delegate tasks to a small key group team to achieve the best outcomes for children.
- To build parent partnerships through daily communication, regular updates on play and development and parent appointments.
- Sharing regular information with parents about themes, topics, teaching moments, achievements and events.
- To plan and deliver relevant workshops to colleagues and parents.
- To follow the settings positive behaviour policy and to have a focus on children’s wellbeing and self-esteem.
- To work with all staff to provide outstanding care and teaching across the nursery.
- Jointly responsible for the long-term planning & organisation of physical resources in nursery with the room leader.
- Reporting to the office the repair & maintenance of play equipment, including outdoors and garden.
- To report to the SENCo any child development concerns
- Provide support to pupils with particular learning, behavioural, communication, social, sensory or physical difficulties, have knowledge and make use of appropriate equipment/resources.
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of children with special needs ensuring access to activities through appropriate clarification, explanation and resources
- To assist with the display and presentation of pupils’ work
- To assist with escorting pupils on educational visits
- Attend relevant training and take responsibility for own development
- Attend relevant paid staff meeting and training outside working hours.
- To respect confidentiality at all times
- To understand and apply all nursery policies
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 16 months
Salary: £14.00-£15.00 per hour
