Job description

We are looking for an Early years/ Childcare assessor for apprenticeship learners

Responsible to: Head of Curriculum / Centre Manager

Purpose of job:

· To deliver Apprenticeship Standards through on the job training to apprenticeship learners.

· To ensure apprenticeship delivery is at an excellent standard in line the prescribed routines set by the awarding organisation with quality procedures

· To ensure all processes and procedures are in place in preparation for any Ofsted, ESFA, employer, awarding body inspection and internal audit.

Responsibilities:

Assessment

· To induct candidates, including apprentices, and carry out Initial Assessment in accordance with College policy and awarding organisation guidelines.

· To assess candidates’ progress in accordance with College policy and awarding body requirements.

· To carry out assessments both in College (if applicable) and the candidates workplace adhering to the awarding organisation code of practice.

· To prepare ILPs, carry out regular reviews with candidates in accordance with distance learning criteria.

· Managing a caseload of up to 40 apprentice learners. This figure may vary and the caseload may increase or decrease.

· To participate in the delivery of training relating to relevant work place qualifications, apprenticeships and additional programmes and when required to, enhance learning with one-to-one tutoring.

· To prepare materials suitable for the work place qualifications and apprenticeships to assist the candidates.

· Prepare candidates for End Point Assessment (EPA), focusing on achieving 100% End Point Assessment achievement rates for learners on caseload and to reduce any early exits to zero

· To assess distance learning qualifications when required

· To develop online and blended learning materials accessed by students through the College virtual learning environment

· To participate in IQA activities with a willingness to gain these qualifications if not currently held.

· To support in the development of higher and degree apprenticeships in the future

Recording & Reporting

· Monitoring and maintaining appropriate paperwork and OneFile records of progress and to report all cases of apprentice learner sickness and absence.

· Maintaining comprehensive apprentice teaching, learning and assessment records and submitting a range of evidence to the Internal Verifier on a regular basis for sampling.

· To support candidates to record and recognise ‘off the job’ training.

· To regularly report to the Head of Curriculum on the progress of candidates.

· Liaise with EQA with the support of the Head of Curriculum.

General

· To deal professionally with colleagues and external partners as required.

· To ensure the confidentiality and security of all the College’s documentation and information.

· To attend training/refresher courses and meetings as required by the Line Manager

· Seek to improve his/her own performance, contribution, knowledge, skills and participate in training and developmental activities as required.

· To perform such other duties as reasonably correspond to the general characteristic of the post and are commensurate with the level of responsibility

Essential Experience & Knowledge:

· Assessment and training of work place qualifications and apprenticeship candidates

· Internal Verification of work place qualifications and apprenticeships

· Experience of online portfolios

· Experience delivering distance learning qualifications

· Significant experience in the relevant standard field.

· Knowledge of quality standards relating to SFA, Sector Skills Councils, employer frameworks, Awarding Bodies

· Knowledge of key performance data and metrics relating to apprenticeship standard and case load.

Desirable Qualifications:

· TAQA Assessors Award

· A1/A2 or D32/33 and have been updated to TAQA standards

· TAQA IQA Award

· Equivalent teaching qualification to deliver apprenticeship training

· GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)

· Qualified to deliver functional skills Level 1 & 2

· IAG qualification
