Have you thought about working within prison healthcare?
Prisons are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work - if you’re looking for a role where you can develop your existing skills and learn something new every day in an environment that never stands still, then this is it!
An exciting opportunity to be part of the new structure at HMP Wormwood Scrubs. You will provide clinical oversight of all patients arriving in prison and support the Early Days in Custody Team in managing these patients, particularly during their first 14 days in custody. You will be on rotation with the clinical pharmacist based in the dispensary.
The main focus of the work will be carrying out in-depth medicines reconciliation for all patients newly arriving into the prison, to hold face to face structured medication reviews with patients on arrival to prison where necessary, and to identify and signpost patients with complex issues to the relevant urgent or planned care teams. In addition, the Early Days Pharmacist will be expected to have oversight of all patients being transferred or discharged from the prison.
The Early Days Pharmacist will also support the Principal Pharmacist in providing a dispensary and wing based clinical pharmacy service and support and supervise Pharmacy Technicians.
You will be a qualified Registered Pharmacist- BSc or Master’s Degree in Pharmacy, holding registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council. You will have a real passion for developing your Pharmaceutical skills and those of your team. You’ll have a flexible approach to working within a team that encourages new ideas.
Experience of working in a secure environment would be beneficial but not essential.
You’ll receive an annual salary up to £55,000 per annum - depending on experience. We offer a whole host of additional benefits such as: cycle to work scheme, free DBS check, free uniform, an extensive training and development structure for all employees along with an employee recognition scheme.
It doesn’t stop there…
We also offer a company pension scheme which we as Practice Plus Group also pay into, 25 days annual leave increasing with service up to 28 days per year, plus 8 public bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time), NHS blue light card, discounted Costco memberships, access to Boundless memberships for attractions and parks, shopping discounts, free eye tests for computer screen users, an 24/7 employee assistance helpline and financial assistance when you need it.
