Graduate Research Executive - Random Probability and Longitudinal Surveys

We cover broad issues that shape the delivery of public services in modern society and how to engage the public in the policy-making process.
We are looking for a Graduate Research Executive to join our Probability Surveys Unit (PSU) team. The PSU team designs and manages some of the largest and most technically complex government studies, including National and Official Statistics, and major longitudinal studies such as Children of the 2020s, Next Steps and the Millennium Cohort Survey. We seek to combine methodological expertise and innovation with excellent project management.
The team design and run random probability studies using a range of research methods such as: the REACT COVID surveillance study, Active Lives Surveys for adults and children, Food and You, and the Childcare and Early Years survey of parents. It also delivers major longitudinal studies including Next Steps, Children of the 2020s and the Millennium Cohort Study.
The Role
This is an exciting Graduate opportunity to contribute to some of the largest and most complex gold standard surveys in the UK. This role will suit candidates who enjoy the idea of working on methodologically complex quantitative studies and are well-suited to project management.
As a Graduate Research Executive, you’ll be encouraged to take responsibility from the outset - thrown straight into working on live projects, working alongside and learning from industry experts. In this role, you will:

We’ll provide you with dedicated training designed to achieve the industry recognised Market Research Society (MRS) Advanced Certificate accreditation. Networking is a key skill so we have Early Careers events with other Graduates, Placement Students and Interns across the company.

As a Graduate Research Executive, you’ll be encouraged to take responsibility from the outset - thrown straight into working on live projects, working alongside and learning from industry experts. In this role, you will:
- Work extensively with quantitative data, supporting large quantitative research projects from inception and design through to data delivery and reporting
- Provide quality assurance and uphold data integrity and accuracy in all stages of the project including questionnaire scripts, fieldwork administration, reporting and other survey outputs
- Learn and employ key project management skills, preparing and updating project plans and working effectively with team members and suppliers
- Focus on what the narrative of our research is, sharing your findings with the client and impacting policy development with a powerful and insights-led story
- Help us think about how we can deliver our conclusions and recommendations in an engaging and meaningful way
- A natural curiosity and passion in working with data – if something doesn’t make sense or add up, you want to find out why that is!
- A keen interest in social research and an understanding of the benefits that this role will have on society
- The ability to work and think logically
- Exceptional attention to detail and a meticulous approach to managing and analysing data
- Strong interpersonal skills – the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, both written and oral
- Exceptional organisational skills as well as the ability to multi-task and work towards multiple deadlines
- Excellent time management and reliability
- Effective listener, open to suggestions and new ideas
- The knack of thinking on your feet and not being afraid to express your ideas
