Graduate Analyst – Social Research Institute - Policy and Evaluation
Location- London, UK
Salary- £26,500 plus benefits
Please note that as well as London, we will also be accepting candidates who are able to commute to Manchester or Edinburgh.
About Us
Ipsos’ Policy and Evaluation Unit works with public institutions to help them set policy priorities, assess the effectiveness and impact of policies and programmes, and improve delivery of public services. We are a multi-disciplinary team of evaluation specialists and economists, with expertise in social, economic and environmental policy.
Our work covers all major areas of public policy and our clients include all UK central Government Departments, the Directorates-General of the European Commission and international institutions such as the World Bank. Analysts will have the opportunity to work on complex evaluations across a diverse set of policy areas, spanning education; cohesion and security; employment, welfare and skills; trade, innovation and enterprise; transport and infrastructure; health; government and society. We are currently looking for enthusiastic and motivated graduates to join our team. Successful applicants will support a growing area of evaluation and consulting services across a range of policy areas. You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of projects, and reporting to the project manager while contributing to the growth of the team through your research and evaluation inputs.
Main responsibilities:
Our Generation Ipsos programme provides a comprehensive foundation in research and how it’s practically applied in a commercial environment. You’ll be trained in client management, project management and the nitty-gritty of research including methodologies, sampling, weighting and ethics. You’ll learn through real life, hands-on experience, webinars, seminars and specialist workshops. We’ll provide you with dedicated training designed to achieve the industry recognised Market Research Society (MRS) Advanced Certificate accreditation. Networking is a key skill so we have Early Careers events with other Graduates, Placement Students and Interns across the company.

- The feasibility of implementing a common charger across all electronic devices in the EU
- The impact of funding support for charities and voluntary organisations during the COVID-19 pandemic
We are currently looking for enthusiastic and motivated graduates to join our team. Successful applicants will support a growing area of evaluation and consulting services across a range of policy areas. You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of projects, and reporting to the project manager while contributing to the growth of the team through your research and evaluation inputs.
Main responsibilities:
- Analysis of the design of policies and programmes and their anticipated impacts
- Literature reviews and analysis of socioeconomic data to describe the context for policy delivery
- Contributing to development of research tools (e.g. questionnaires, topic guides)
- Co-ordinating and supporting depth interviews with key informants
- Analysis of statistical evidence on the performance of public programmes
- Analysis of qualitative evidence on the performance of public programmes
- Drafting accessible and concise sections of reporting outputs of evaluation findings
- Contributing to the team winning new contracts by helping to develop research proposals with oversight from a bid manager
- Attending and contributing to client presentations
- A strong interest in one or more areas of public policy
- A desire to build a career in policy evaluation and consulting and a commercial attitude
- A strong academic background in economics, economic geography, social policy or other social sciences
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills – including proficiency in MS Excel
- Knowledge of quantitative and/or qualitative research methods
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively to non-technical audiences both in writing and verbally
- Fluency in English, any other languages are an advantage
- Desirable: knowledge of statistical or econometric methods.
