Role Overview
Driver Trainer
- Location: Glasgow, Bellshill (ML4)
- Salary: £35,577 Per Annum
- Shift Pattern: 40 hours per week, 5 out of 7 days
- Contract: Permanent
The Driver Training team will support the Transport Operations Manager with the delivery of a wide range of Transport Training initiatives to the Transport network in YODEL. Serving the Transport population, the role holder will ensure consistency, quality and compliance through the provision of a value added service to the Yodel Transport Network and to the colleague's which work within, whilst promoting a positive learning environment. The role holder must be able to work independently and as part of a team, which they will be responsible for.
What you'll be doing
- Develop a training culture in YODEL
- Ensure that all end solutions meet the projects/business requirements, and are time, cost and quality driven to enable improved performance
- Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) guidance and advice to colleagues within the transport team, Transport Managers and other stakeholders within YODEL. This will include input into accident investigations, risk assessments, Safe Systems of Work, vehicle familiarisation, site appraisals etc.
- Attend meetings including transport, agency and Health and Safety as directed by your Line Manager
- Develop and deliver relevant training modules and assessments including the preparation of training packs
- Ensure regulatory and legislative, client-specific and all other applicable training requirements are met for all team members, including timely re-training, refresher training and/or recertification completion as necessary; maintain all appropriate training records and documentation
- Provide advice and guidance with regard to accident investigations, as appropriate.
- Deliver Tachograph training and retraining in order to reduce Tachograph infringements throughout the Transport team
- Deliver shunter training at Transport sites
- Deliver Van & 7.5t assessments at service centres
- Deliver Driver CPC Training
- Vehicle telematics monitor and assess information. Interview and act on information received.
- Conduct vehicle spot checks and use the output to provide coaching and support to transport colleagues
- Deliver training modules and briefings to Yodel colleagues including 3rd Party workers as directed.
- Assist in recruitment and the induction of new Staff. From interview stage to offers of employment including the use of relevant HR portals.
- Liaise with operations to schedule the requirement of Driver Assessors / On the job training staff.
- Support 'O' licence compliance in the wider operation via audits and other projects
- Conduct driving assessments for both employed and 3rd party drivers. Including initial, return to work, 2 year and post-accident assessments on a wide range of vehicles including vans and LGV's
- Support with the required license checks as directed by the Transport Manager.
- Liaise and organise assessments and required training, with various agencies and service partners.
- Deliver inductions to all new drivers inclusive of the current Yodel Induction plus role specific information i.e. SSoW
- Provide constructive feedback on course content to promote a culture of continuous improvement
- Liaise with fleet to develop and deliver vehicle familiarisation training as and when fleet changes are made.
- Assist operational partners with planning, preparation and support as required
- Support the Yodel Apprenticeship Programme.
What you need to show us
- PC literate
- Full and clean driving licence
- 2 years Group Training experience preferred
- Cat C+E license holder
- Certificate of Professional Competence for Transport Managers in Road Haulage preferred
- IOSH Cert
- First Aid Cert. preferred
