We have an exciting opportunity to join our driver training team based at the Force Training Centre in Hull.

As a driver trainer, you will train drivers of varying abilities and experience to the level which is required in order for them to perform their duties. You will design and deliver training programmes to assist both Police Officers and Staff in line with the Force requirements, ensuring health and safety needs and individual welfare is taken into account.

The role involves monitoring Police Officers and Staff progress throughout their course and preparing daily and weekly feedback to help them improve.

This position offers excellent career opportunities for candidates who have the skills and experience necessary to successfully progress through the nationally mandated training programme. This involves the requirement to demonstrate competence as an advanced police driver and complete an extensive Train the Trainer programme.

Given those requirements, we are ideally looking for candidates who have previously had experience at driving to the advanced police standard or have experience of driving to a similar standard in other roles and the role requirement reflects that.

If successful, you will be part of team who are recognised as some of the best in the police service and be responsible for training police officers and staff across the Force in a wide variety of driving skills.

  • Possesses an adult teaching qualification at a minimum of Level 3 (or equivalent) or is willing to work towards this.
  • Has experience, and is able to demonstrate success, in training and developing others in an adult learning environment to reach their full potential.
  • Is currently, or has previously been, a qualified ‘advanced’ emergency services driver or been qualified to drive vehicles in other roles to an advanced standard safely at speed.
  • Must pass the Police Advanced driving course and the College of Policing Accredited Driver Trainer Course following appointment.
