Job description
Do you have a full UK driving licence? Are looking for your next opportunity?
Well, look no further because Nottingham City Council has an amazing opportunity to join our organisation as a Public Realm Operative Level 2 (Driver) working across the city as part of the Waste & Cleansing service.
A full, clean UK driving licence is an essential requirement for this post, but for the right candidate we offer full training to operate road sweepers, crew cab Tipper vans and 3.5 - 7.5 tonne vehicles (depending on your licence rights).
At Nottingham City Council we pride ourselves being an employer of choice, offering an inclusive environment for you to thrive and feel valued within your working environment.
NCC is committed to recruiting a talented workforce that reflects the communities we serve. We are a fair and inclusive employer and welcome applications from people from all backgrounds and with different abilities. We promote diversity and value difference.
What will you do on a day to day basis?
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering various services on behalf of the Council, including bin collections, fly-tipping clearance, street cleansing, and bulky waste collections. This role includes the driving and day-to-day operation of different vehicles we use to deliver Waste & Cleansing services across the city.
What hours will you work?
You will work an average of 37 hours per week, usually from Monday to Friday, although your weekly hours may occasionally vary to meet the needs of the service.
As part of your annualised hours contract, you will also be expected to work some weekends to help the service cover occasions such as Bank Holidays.
For the right candidate, there may also be the opportunity to work a 4-on/4-off shift pattern instead (working from either 03:30 - 14:00 or 14:00 - 01:00), with paid enhancements for working unsociable hours.
What will you get for your Hard Work?
Salary - up to £21,189 in year one, rising to £21,575 after a year's service.
Holidays – 25 to 33 days of annual leave, plus public holidays, with the option to purchase additional leave through the MoreTime salary sacrifice scheme.
Pension - After 3 months of service, council employees are automatically enrolled into the Local Government Pension Scheme.
Sick Pay - Council employees are entitled to receive Statutory Sick Pay and additional sick pay in line with the council's Sick Pay policy.
