Overview of role
Location: Stevenage
- Reporting directly to the Transport Manager with indirect reporting to the Transport Front Line Manager
- Supporting the Driver Assessor with responsibility for the coaching and ongoing training of delivery drivers.
- Specific coaching on safe and fuel-efficient driving, correct usage of tachograph systems, delivery point risk assessment, manual handling, diversion management, satellite navigation usage and bridge strike awareness.
- Full written supporting documentation to be provided in support of assessment and driver behaviour.
Key Accountabilities
- Following assessment criteria, accompanying driver on routes, full written assessment on driving style, behaviours, and compliance.
- An experienced driver with exemplary standards, you will be the bridge between having a genuine driver focus coupled with a complete understanding of the business legal compliance obligations.
- All criteria covered in driver induction will need to be evidenced in driver coaching sessions.
- Detailed knowledge of working and legal compliance SOP’s will be required to enable coaching of correct standards.
- To be a custodian of driver tachograph coaching supporting infringement and driver error reduction.
- Support RTA investigations and delivery of corrective actions.
- Monitor manual handling operations, coaching correct methods with observations supporting FLM’s with 1 to 1’s where appropriate.
- Take a leading role communicating to all drivers on the working time directive, the impact on drivers and any future initiatives specifically aimed at driving controls and behaviours.
- Identifying ongoing training and produce periodic plans according.
- Become part of the site steering team for vehicle operations management.

- Essential C+E license holder.
- Computer literacy, spreadsheets, newsletters, PowerPoint
- At least 2 years experience as a driver in a commercially challenging, results driven, FMCG environment.
