This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
- This post includes a variety of driving tasks within the UK. It is essential applicants hold the current Cat CE & D license, with at least 2 years’ professional driving experience.
- You will be required to drive buses up to 55 passengers, trucks, tractor units with trailers and articulated lorries up to and including 45 tons.
- Jobholder must be fully conversant with the loading/unloading of vehicles in terms of ensuring safe weight distribution and security of the load preventing danger to themselves or other road users.
- Variable hours of work are expected with some weekend/evening/early mornings. Hours worked outside normal working week is paid as overtime.
- This position will also require on-call duties.
- You will be expected to fully understand and adhere to UK road traffic regulations and driving hours.
- This role also necessitates reporting any defects and carries the responsibility for refueling and cleaning vehicles.
- There is a requirement to maintain vehicle operator records and to complete appropriate paperwork in the event of an accident.
- Medical & eyesight tests will be required prior to taking up the post.
- Basic IT knowledge is desirable as some training is done online, there are occasional emails and wider communications are presented electronically.

Person specification
Applicants will be expected to obtain and maintain an SC level security clearance prior to commencement of position. Applicants must hold UK citizenship and also have been present within the UK for at least 4 of the last 5 years.
- Must hold a valid Category CE licence and have at least 3 years' experience at this level.
- Must have a valid Category D licence.
