Position: Driver / Yard Assistant
Full-Time, Permanent
Monday to Friday **
New opening has arisen for a full-time driver/yard assistant to work Monday to Friday for an expanding heritage construction firm. This role is permanent with the requirement to work the occasional weekend (as and when required). Overtime work also available.
No special driving license needed – you only need the standard category B driving licence to drive up to a 3.5 tonne van.
Universal Stone Ltd. HQ and workshop is in Battlesbridge Essex, near Wickford and South Woodham Ferrers with multiple project sites throughout London and the Southeast.
This is a vital role ensuring we keep our projects and yard running smoothly.
Key requirements
· Cat B driving licence (with clean driving record)
· Good level of fitness
· Punctual, reliable, dedicated and team player
· Must adopt a flexible approach to working
· Must comply and be participative in a health & safety culture, complying with H&S and other related company processes, procedures and instructions.
· Confident with London driving
· Self-motivated
Responsibilities of Driver / Yard Assistant
- Undertake multi-drop delivery or collection as required for restoration and construction company.
- This may include travelling between construction sites, suppliers and company yard in Essex.
- Record deliveries and follow specific instructions for each site.
- Maintain good working order of our vehicles and any equipment on board, ensuring that any service requirements are reported as they occur.
- Complete vehicle checks.
- Ensure that reasonable care is taken at all times and that Health & Safety Policies are adhered to.
- Accurate and safe delivery of customer product within the specified delivery area.
- Regular liaison with the Head Office to report and update any challenges, reportable matters and completion of run.
- Assisting Yard Manager in yard duties, picking various materials as directed for site deliveries
- Any ad hoc jobs that may arise.
