Job summary
The Infantry Training Centre (ITC) delivers Infantry basic training and initial trade training and is based in Catterick Garrison. The ITC consists of three units, Ist and 2nd Infantry Training Battalions and a Support Battalion all co-collated along with Headquarters School of Infantry. The 1st and 2nd Battalions undertake the Combat Infantry Course (CIC) for all recruits who wish to join the Infantry whether regular or reserve. The ITC also commands Pegasus Company (which delivers P Coy), the Army School of Ceremonial and the Army School of Bagpipe Music and Highland Drumming (based in Edinburgh).
We deliver training which covers everything from developing a civilian arriving with no military experience into a trained, confident Infantry soldier, to teaching people to play the Bagpipes.
Whilst military training is undertaken by highly skilled and experienced members of the Army, they are supported by almost 200 Ministry of Defence (MOD) Civil Servants along with a number of Defence Contractors. We are in roles from drivers to HR clerks and storekeepers to tutors!

This is an exciting opportunity to join 400 Troop as a Driver. You will be a key player within the 400 Troop team of civilian drivers, supporting the ITC's 3 Battalions by transporting military recruits to and from various locations around Catterick and other training areas in a variety of vehicles on a daily basis.
The position is advertised at 37 hours a week.
Job description
You will be transporting military recruits in training to and from various locations on a daily basis. All drivers are required to work/drive in accordance with civilian and military laws and regulations. You will be required to drive various vehicle transport such as Coach, minibus, cars, vans and military green vehicles.
You will be responsible for carrying out vehicle maintenance checks, vehicle husbandry and completing vehicle documentation on a daily basis.
When not allocated a driving detail you will be required to carry out other tasks commensurate with the job as directed by the Leading Hand or Line Manager.
Please note that the successful applicants will be working any 5 out of 7 days and any 8 hours out of 24.
Person specification
Must hold a clean driving licence.
Must hold CAT D (Coach licence) and Cat C + E.
If ex military GS MOD 1 records will be accepted.

The post does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six month probation period.
