Job description
Job Summary
We are looking to recruit a permanent HGV Class 1 (LGV C+E) Driver to work in our straw haulage operation based out of Bunwell, Norfolk. The straw lorries are DAF long artic and wagon & drag flatbeds designed to carry straw bales destined for biomass power generation.
Candidate Requirements
- HGV1 licence with Driver CPC
- Interested in agricultural haulage
- Prepared to work some weekends and bank holidays by prior arrangement (not Christmas Day, Boxing Day, NYD)
- Prepared to work nights out
- Available over harvest (July-September)
- Previous agricultural and/or long artic experience desirable but not essential
Candidate Duties
A typical day will start between 5.00am and 6.00am and take you to a straw storage site on a farm in the East of England where you will be loaded with large or midi hesston bales. You will strap up your load and deliver it to one of our customer’s fuel storage or processing sites in the East of England. Due to the structure of the day, it makes sense to be ‘up the road’ for most of the week, overnighting on farm or near the customer’s sites.
Benefits & Salary
- Basic pay £12.00/hr first 8 hours M-F, £13.75/hr thereafter.
- Breaks paid for (worth an extra ~3-6% on the rate over employers who deduct for breaks).
- Overnight allowance £26.20 tax free.
- Saturdays £13.75/hr all hours worked.
- Sundays £13.75/hr first 8 hours, £18.15/hr thereafter.
- Bank holidays £18.15/hr all hours worked.
- CPC training organised and paid for by the Company, on Company time
- Weekly pay
