Mini Bus Driver needed for Stroke Support Team – Job Specification

We are looking for someone to drive our vehicles to pick up stroke survivors from home and bring them to our Stroke Centre working as part of our support team. Some people travel in their wheelchair and you will need to operate a wheelchair lift and be able to clamp the wheelchair safely in the vehicle (training will be given).
You will need to be physically fit enough to push people in their wheelchairs to and from the bus.
Part time hours to be discussed at interview for example:
9am – 11am to pick up bring people to the centre
3pm – 5pm to take people home at the end of the day
Possibility of full time position if willing to support our service users whilst at the Centre during the day. Hours to be negotiated.
Key tasks
· Supporting survivors on journeys to and from the Stroke Centre on our bus
· Supporting survivors to take part in activities at the Stroke Centre when needed and to cover for holiday and sickness
· Keeping the bus clean and tidy, inside and out at all times
Additional tasks
· Prepare and serve drinks and refreshments
· Keeping the Stroke Centre clean and tidy in all areas
· To be willing to undertake training as needed in specialist areas e.g. aphasia and swallowing issues after stroke
· Taking the bus to the garage for routine maintenance
· Carry out regular bus safety checks
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Salary: £10.42 per hour
