Job description
An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Driver Support Supervisor within our Operations Department. Based in Walworth depot with requirement to travel to other sites, the successful applicant will be providing training to all qualified drivers coming to the depot covering all relevant regulations, safety procedures and paperwork to ensure drivers are prepared to enter service. The role is responsible for conducting probation reviews to monitor new entrants and to ensure and assist drivers with completing the necessary paperwork to gain the City and Guilds qualification.
The Role:
- To maintain a smart and tidy appearance at all times whilst on duty, to promote high standards of customer care and to promote the good name of the Company to all our customers and employees whilst displaying Abellio values at all times.
- To engage yourself in the wider business including any working parties.
- Support the local Hello London Champions / Route Champions / Depot Champions to promote and embed exceptional levels of Customer Experience.
- Work closely with the local depot management team to understand key performance indicators, results and requirements.
- To welcome new candidates to the depot and to carry out a depot induction covering health and safety procedures and regulations.
- Ensuring full compliance to Abellio’s Health, Safety & Environment policies.
- Reiterate the importance of vehicle first use checks (ferry vehicles and buses) and ensure drivers are aware of DVSA regulations and the reporting of defects using the Vehicle Condition Report (VCR).
- Ensure all new entrants can demonstrate an Abellio First Use Check before signing off.
- To observe and react to any reasonable instruction given by a company official and undertake any reasonable alternative duty or other work as may be requested of you, from time to time, when operational demands dictate.
- Facilitate all elements of driver induction training covering all operational KPI’s, and ensuring drivers are fully aware of driving laws and regulations.
- Carrying out refresher training/confidence building with drivers as required.
- Managing driver probation reviews, and completion of City and Guilds related documentation to the highest standards.
- Promoting high levels of driving standards to all staff.
The Candidate:
- Knowledge of DVSA regulations, City and Guilds documentation and health and safety regulations is essential.
- Must have thorough appreciation of the needs of external customers and external stakeholders, coupled with the ability to identify areas for improvement and implement effective action plans.
- Demonstrates exemplary people skills through effective communication, listening and adaptability to wider audience.
- Experienced in managing and motivating individuals to achieve high standards of performance.
- Flexible approach to working hours, with ability to attend run out/run in sessions outside of working hours.
- Ability to complete probationary outcome letters, reports and training records to a high standard.
