Domiciliary Care Assistant

Who we are...
Rowan House is a family run business with a great local reputation. Rowan House residential care home has been established for over 30 years and the care in the community evolved from that. We have been providing care in the community for over 15 years and have a very experienced team of carers. As a company we offer a full package of care, residential, care in the community and day care and we pride ourselves on the service we provide to all our clients.
Salary
Competitive rates of pay, ranging from £12.40 - £21.53 per hour.
The hourly rate is dependent on the shift worked, the higher rates are paid for evenings, weekend work & overtime. Starting on £12.40 during shadowing training and increasing when in probationary period and increasing again once the probation period is successfully completed.
Travel time and mileage are also paid for clients outside of the Saltash area.
Location
Saltash and surrounding areas, including Hatt, St Dominick, Callington, Landrake, Tideford, St Germans and others.
Hours - Evenings & Weekend Work
We are looking for carers that are able to work evening shifts of approx 6pm - 10.30pm on some evenings through the week and also available to work alternate weekends. The weekend work will include a mixture of the following shift patterns: 7am - 2pm or 6pm - 10.30pm. There is overtime work available also. The times of these shifts can be slightly adjusted if necessary.
You will be required to carry out day-to-day tasks within the client's own homes and assist on the community. The role includes:
- Assisting with personal care
- Administering or assisting with Medication
- Meal Preparation
- Grocery Shopping
- Cleaning duties
- Sit in services
- Companionship
You will mainly be working with the elderly, people living with Dementia, people living with physical disabilities, sensory disabilities or people recovering from a period in hospital.

Experience
No previous care experience is required, but would be beneficial. Diploma in Health & Social care would also be beneficial but we do encourage you to complete this on commencement of employment.
Training
Comprehensive induction course for all new starters.
We expect all mandatory training to be kept up to date annually.
We offer staff the opportunity to complete a fully funded Diploma in Health & Social Care with a financial bonus upon completion.

You will need access to a car, full driving licence and business insurance will be required.
You will be part of a great support network of carers and Managers both from within the Domiciliary team and the staff based within Rowan House residential care home.

COVID-19 considerations:
All staff & clients are fully vaccinated against Coronavirus. All staff are required to wear face masks, aprons and gloves - provided by Rowan House. Staff should be double vaccinated but it is not essential.
