Domestic Services Assistant
Bishop Auckland
10 hours per week
08:00-11:00 Tuesday – Wednesday
08:00-12:00 - Thursday
£10.42 per hour
We currently have a vacancy for a domestic services assistant at our Bishop Auckland Hospice. The purpose of this post is to ensure that the premises are maintained to a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness, both internally and externally and that the appearance of the Hospice is conductive to the provision of specialist palliative care.
Key Responsibilities:
To undertake scheduled cleaning as designated by the Manager in line with the national cleaning standards
Domestic duties include but are not limited to: vacuum cleaning, operating floor cleaning machinery, damp dusting/high/low dusting/changing of curtains/clean/terminal and periodic cleans (where necessary), cleaning of public/staff areas including reception/dining room/patient rooms/communal areas/bathrooms and toilets; replenishment of all consumables in all outlets; safe removal of domestic waste to designated waste areas and maintenance of all waste bins throughout the site.
To ensure correct and safe use of all cleaning equipment as well ensuring said equipment is maintained and safe to use.
Inform manager/maintenance of any faulty equipment.
Adhere to the national colour coding system for any work undertaken in accordance with the national standards.
To ensure that high standards and quality of work are maintained, promoting good practices wherever possible.
To work to covid safe standards set out by the organisation
To maintain records as required.
To provide cover for other housekeeping team members to ensure that an effective housekeeping service is provided.
Where applicable ensure building or work area is secure on leaving i.e. domestic services room is locked etc.
Report any known building faults/damage to the building fabric to the maintenance department via the correct reporting procedure as well as report all incidents via the correct procedures to manager.
Support new and inexperienced members of staff to be familiar with the local environment and cleaning procedures.
To provide cover for sickness and annual leave to ensure a continual service is upheld
To undertake and complete further training and qualifications relevant to the job role
Applicants must have high standards, attention to detail and be able to ensure quality of work is maintained. The applicant must be courteous, with the ability to relate and communicate with staff, patients and visitors appropriately. You will understand the importance of team work and work closely with members of the Domestic team and other members of the Hospice staff. The ability to work, travel flexibly (if required) and experience of clinical cleaning be would be advantageous.
