Responsible to: Domestic Abuse Manager

Job Purpose: To lead and be a part of the friendly, proactive Domestic Abuse Support Service (DASS) team, providing bespoke community-based support, advice and advocacy services for individuals and families subjected to domestic abuse in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough areas. Responsible for supporting the team to achieve their objectives, you will also manage a small caseload of clients. Based on the needs and wishes of the individual, develop appropriate support and safety plans to help people to remain safely in their own home or in alternative accommodation suited to financial means and individual requirements.

Geographical location: This is a hybrid role, combining working from home with office and community-based face to face delivery in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough areas.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a small team of Domestic Abuse Outreach Coordinators (as outlined in the Organisational Chart), empowering them to achieve the best outcomes for clients
  • Ensure that staff understand and work within the aims and limitations of the service, monitor performance and support the team to meet commissioned target KPIs
  • Support staff to work in a trauma informed way to understand client needs and wishes, empowering individuals to maximise their stability and independence, through rigorous support and safety plans
  • Ensure risk assessments, support files and Personal Development Plans are consistent, sufficient, accurate and up to date by performing regular file audits
  • Work in partnership with other agencies supporting clients – i.e. MARAC/ IDVA/ and arrange drop in surgeries at community locations
  • Carry a small caseload of clients and provide support in line with the service aims and specification
  • Support individuals and families to remain safely in own home where appropriate
  • Source accommodation suited to client’s financial means, safety needs and individual requirements
  • Assess financial capability/ support with accessing welfare benefits
  • Signpost to specialist support (legal/ mental health/drug & alcohol etc.), advocating where required
  • Support to set up utilities, source & purchase furnishings/ white goods etc.
  • Oversee appropriation of the Flexi-fund and access funding where possible to assist individuals with costs where access to money has been identified as a barrier
  • Develop knowledge of current programmes and support networks likely tobenefit the development and progression of clients
  • Ensure clients understand their rights and responsibilities within the service
  • Ensure that the voices of service users are consistently sought to enable them to shape service delivery
  • Deliver consistently exceptional services to clients, making use of new and alternative methods and practices to continuously improve service quality and standards

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use the InForm software management system to accurately record client information, updating as appropriate
  • Be flexible to the changing needs of the organisation and its service users.
  • Abide by the organisations staff working policies and procedures.
  • Promote the aims, purposes, mission and services delivered by the organisation.
  • In addition to the duties set out in this job description, the post holder may at times be required to undertake additional or other duties to meet the needs of the organisation.
