Domains Project Delivery Manager – Inside IR35
Contract Term: 5 months (possible extension)
Contracting Authority: Cabinet Office – Government Digital Services
Location: Hybrid Working (up to two days per week office based – London, Manchester or Bristol)
The Central Digital and Data Office leads the digital, data and technology (DDaT) function for the government. We put the right conditions in place to achieve digital, data and technology transformation at scale by working with departments, and other government functions like commercial, project delivery and security professionals.
We are responsible for:
· Digital, Data and Technology Strategy and Standards, like the Technology Code of Practice, the Service Standard and Open Standards
· Cross-government DDaT performance and assurance, including Spend Controls
· DDaT Capability Development, including the DDaT pay framework
Job Purpose:
You will be a Delivery Manager in the Securing Government Services team, where you will be accountable for the delivery of digital projects that change how the UK public sector protects and manages its domain names and establishes an operational capability to ensure this change endures.
As a Domains Project Delivery Manager your main responsibilities would be:
- Successfully lead projects ensuring effective governance and decision making in a central government and wider public sector environment. Engaging in mechanisms that hold people accountable.
- Support commercial management of complex relationships with contracted suppliers to ensure on-time delivery, value for money and knowledge retention after projects end.
- Harness agile, lean and other iterative project practices to oversee delivery with internal and external partners.
- Communicate and engage effectively across government organisations and managing dependencies between connected programmes across government.
- Manage finances and budgets, monitoring contractual and project spend and contributing to the development of business and benefits cases.
- Support onboarding and offboarding planning for current and future external providers and connected services.
You’ll have:
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills and be able to quickly develop an understanding of complex areas. You will need to be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. You will take pride in making a difference and the contribution your work makes towards enabling interoperability.
- You will hold a recognised project/programme management qualification (Agile, APM, Prince2, MSP or equivalent), with excellent stakeholder management and the ability to gain the confidence of leaders
- Experience in engaging with private sector providers and putting in place commercial contracts
- Experience in working with government audit functions, security and information management professionals
- The ability to translate complex material into clear communications, with a range of partners, to enable timely decisions
- The ability to work as part of an agile team, with an understanding of government organisations, user research and user-centred design
