Dog Walker Apprenticeship
Candidate must live in the Leith/Portobello/Musselburgh area for us to provide transport.
Monday to Thursday
Duties:
- Be available to be collected and dropped off between 10-4pm for group walks. Your own transport is not required.
- Help to provide exercise and mental stimulation for dogs during walks.
- Monitor dogs for signs of distress or discomfort and report any concerns to us.
- Clean up after dogs during walks and dispose of waste properly.
- Maintain a safe and controlled environment during walks, keeping dogs under control at all times.
- Learning basic obedience training.
- Communicate with the general public confidently.
Experience:
- Previous experience working with dogs is preferred but not required as we will provide training.
- Knowledge of basic dog behavior and body language is a plus.
- Ability to handle different sizes and breeds of dogs with confidence and care.
This post is maternity cover. At the end of the term you will have the option to continue working for us, or we will help you to set up your own dog walking business!
The full hours will be required from January 2024, so there Is plenty of time to train the candidate up should they be inexperienced. The post will be at least a year.
