Job description

Carlen’s Canines and Companions is a female Founded, local Dog walking and training service within the Pinner area. We offer a bespoke service to local clients who are looking for a more friendly personable service which focuses on the interests of the dogs physical and behavioural fulfilment.

We enjoy setting our dogs up for success and the world around them by implementing key elements of training to ensure they can progress through their lives safely and become well rounded members of society.

We are looking to expand with another reliable dog walker (occasional live in pet sits in owners homes optional) on a full-time basis. A walker should be relaxed around dogs and feel confident walking up to 5 dogs at a time on lead or off lead once settled. We tailor to all dogs and take the care, health and development of the dogs seriously.

Training will be offered on the job; however, a walker must be competent when walking dogs, and be comfortable to immediately communicate worries to a senior member if unsure.

It is essential that applicants have their own vehicle suitable to transport several dogsto start with. Once established within the company, a company vehicle will be provided.

Hours
Monday - Friday: 9am - 5pm

Dog Walker Responsibilities:

  • Travelling to houses to collect and drop off dogs, using a key when clients are out.
  • Walking up to 5 dogs at a time independently and maintaining control of those dogs.
  • Representing the company appropriately by ensuring dogs are well behaved in public and cleaning up faeces
  • Helping with basic training of dogs and puppies using Positive Reinforcement methods only.
  • Ensuring work vehicles are always clean, fully stocked, and ready for use with treats, poo bags, balls, leads etc each day.
  • Ensuring dogs are returned home clean and happy.
  • Taking Photos/videos of dogs on walks for social media.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Essential:

  • Proven experience working with dogs (Minimum 1 year)
  • Full Clean Manual Driving Licence and vehicle to start with.
  • Basic understanding of Dog Body Language and Behaviour - Further Training will be provided.
  • Confident around dogs and happy working with a group of dogs independently and in groups.
  • Mustbe able to remain calm in an emergency.
  • Be physically fit, able to walk to do several walks a day including long distances for extended periods of time (sometimes 2+ hours without a break) and happy to walk in all weathers.
  • Confident communicating to senior members of staff from day one.
  • MUST be polite when communicating with customers during pick up/drop off, as a representative of Carlen’s Canines and Companions

Desirables:

  • Level 2 or Level 3 in Canine Care & Welfare or similar
  • First aid trained - Training will be provided

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: From £19,000.00 per year
