Dog Walker/Dog Care Assistant

Self-employed Position

Temporary position - 6 months in the first instance but may be extended.

Willsbridge Walkies offers luxury doggy daycare, boarding and walking services in a home environment. We are looking for a special person to assist in walking, caring for dogs, and cleaning.

Working hours will be at least 2 hours a day on weekday mornings. We are looking for someone dependable who can be flexible when it comes to days and hours worked. This is a great experience for someone who loves dogs and is interested in gaining experience in this field.

You should have some experience in dog walking/handling and will need to be strong and confident enough to walk larger dogs or dogs that pull. You will be expected to study for a Pet First Aid qualification and attend further training if asked. A Level 2 or 3 in Animal Care would be an advantage but not essential.

A good level of personal fitness is required due to the nature of the active job role.

Personal traits should include trustworthiness, committed, reliable, honest, patient, punctual and flexible.The successful applicant will be a reliable, resilient person with a genuine passion for dogs.

Daily duties include

  • Walking dogs - You should be willing to walk dogs in all weathers, so suitable clothing and footwear will be required. You will be expected to work both alone and with other members of the team.
  • Hoovering and cleaning floors, bowls, storage areas, general tidying, picking poo
  • Feeding dogs
  • Managing enrichment sessions with dogs
  • Basic grooming and bathing
